This is an outstanding TV. Bright clear picture, clean motion, lots of inputs. I considered the comparable Samsungs but did not like the shiny screen or frame. The picture quality was indistinguishable to my eyes in the store. I ultimately settled on Sharp due to the reports of extraordinary customer service for Sharp vs. much less satisfaction with Samsung customer service. I have not been disappointed with the Sharp so far.

Update - After nearly 6 weeks, the wall mount finally arrived. Thumbs up for Sharp, thumbs down for Abe's of Maine.

I would have rather purchased the TV from Amazon, but they do not sell this model direct. So, I bought from Abe's of Maine, who offered no tax, free shippping and a free wall mount. This made their price substantially less than other vendors; moreover, Abe's was highly rated as a vendor. My experience? I cannot recommend Abe's of Maine (actually, Abe's of New Jersey). After I ordered the TV online, I got an e-mail to call them to discuss the order. Not surprisingly, a high pressure salesman tried to get me to upgrade everything from the mode of delivery, to the free wall mount, to an extended warranty, even to a different TV. I did upgrade the delivery as what came for free was "curbside delivery" and got a mount that was thinner (and tiltable) compared to the "free mount" that was included with the TV which was not tiltable. After about 2.5 weeks, the TV showed up. Delivery was quick and easy and the driver helped me remove the TV from the box and set it up. But the wall mount I ordered was not included, forcing me to scramble to find a solution to put the TV on temporarily. So far, I am still waiting for the wall mount, more than a week after reporting it missing.

I bought one of these units from a local CVS after reading reviews. I didn't want the hassle of ordering a potentially defective unit via website then contacting the mfg. and returning by mail. I followed the manual instructions but the unit would not power up. I tested the power supply and battery. Both were functional. The customer service # proved to be worthless. After a 1 minute wait on their (Singapore?)customer service line, the system disconnects you. I tried this 3 times at different times of the same day with the same result. When I returned the unit to CVS, they commented that they had previous returns of this unit for the same problem. Looks like the manufacturer needs better QA and customer service on their product! I purchased this TV for a friend of mine after spending a few hours viewing the Samsung and LG LED's. I hooked it up for him and spent a few hours viewing and tweeking and generally getting him comfortable with the operation of the set. I am a fan of the Samsung LED tvs but to my eyes the Sonys colors looked a tad deeper and the depth of field also looked deeper and devoid of video noise and artifacts. I also noticed on the Samsung there were some strange artifacts on the outside edges, kinda looked like a very translucent ribbon about an inch wide, running from top to bottom. These are very minor quibbles but I thought the Sony was a bit more refined. Basically, if you want a small LCD TV w/DVD built-in, you can choose from Sharp, Toshiba, LG, and some lesser names and chineese brands. Since I've had good luck with Sharp and bad luck with Toshiba in the past, I waited for this model to become available (all summer). So far I am not dissappointed.

Pros: great picture, you can adjust the brightness, backlight, etc to tweak it to your delight. I like the factory settings so far. - Sound is more than adequate for this size TV - Tuner picked up every available signal with a basic, attic-mounted antennae - DVD player works very nicely - viewing angles better than I expected.

Cons: Non-adjustable base ( I don't care because I have it wall-mounted in a bedroom with a nice tiltable mount) - Remote layout ( It's probably not that bad. I'm just used to Samsung's layout and I guess i'd just have to get used to this one). The actual screen size is less than 22 inches. This TV (HxW) is smaller than my 22" Samsung (kitchen - no DVD) because the bezel is thinner and screen is about 21.5" diagonally. So if you have a tight space, that could be a good thing.

Really, I'm thinking this is the best 22" LCD w/DVD out there. The price is not bad and the picture/sound is as good as it gets in this class TV. I purchased this TV for a little under $1750. No tax, free shipping, and the lowest price that I could find on the internet made this an easy decision for me. I was skeptical at first with the low price that the picture quality would live up to my expectations. I was anticipating those "blurry squares" that appear (like on my 50in) whenever I am watching sports or movies with lots of action. However, I was quite impressed. This set delivers a clear and consistent picture and for a fraction of the price of other competing brands.

My negatives are mostly minor things, but I decided to list everything I could think of to help those that are "on the fence". The one thing that I thought was a little pointless are the preset picture options such as "sports", "cinema", and so on. I (as well as my friends and family) have yet to find a setting that works better than the default. All others seem either dull or so bright that a person's face color looks unnatural.

In summary... there is very little that I do not like about this set. Aesthetically, it is a good looking TV. The screen size is ridiculously impressive, and the picture quality I would rate around an 8/10. Finally, the price is right. If you can purchase it for under $1800, I would consider it a bargain. First the delivery and help was great. The picture is very clear (120Hz helps). The only problem I have with this unit is the FIRMWARE for the Blu-Ray is not up to date. I've been using this HDTV-DVD player in the kitchen for a month now. For the most part, it has good picture (I'm connected to cable) and has true Hi definition on HD channels. It plays DVDs, +Rs, -Rs, and jpegs on CDs... all good.

There are a few problems, though: The sound while playing a dvd can be poor, sometimes the volume has to be turned up in order to hear it. Then, when you switch back to tv, the speakers blast out. Very annoying.

The remote is the worst I've ever had. Most annoying: there is a delay (1/2 to 1 second) from the time you press a button to when it works. You never know if it worked the first time or not, so, in the beginning you keep pressing! The remote is not very sensitive anyway, so, gets very annoying.

Plus, the remote buttons for the dvd are small and at the bottom cluster, took forever to find the "pause" button when the phone rang.

Today I connect an Oppo BD, and this lcd can handle 1080p/24, and deep color, very good!

The blacks are blacks, and the image are pretty good.

When this tv is on, just consume 95 watts, if i compare with my old sharp 32 lcd, it has a consume of 161 watts.

the only thing i dont put 5 stars is that the turner is a pretty slow.

I had a problem with a noise or humming, and after change 2 LCD, I found that all the TVs has the same problem, and the problem gone when you desactivate the energy saver, and turn to max the backlight.

The turner is a little cheap, because I hear the noise from de cable operator louder than my old LCD 32 Sharp Aquos.

We bought this set back in late June 2009, and it's our first HDTV so I can't compare firsthand with other models. All I can say is, through HDMI connections it displays everything we feed it much better than I even imagined. I assumed standard-definition content would look grainy but this TV, in combination with a great Panasonic blu-ray player (the DMP-BD60) or even our old Samsung progressive-scan DVD player, somehow shows literally everything in its native mode, or at 720p (PS3 games and 720p TV content). Composite-video feed is as feared, somewhat grainy, so I don't even use it.

There's been a lot of buzz about Samsung plasmas being "buzzers." Fortunately, we have been spared. Also, I've read comments about the CinemaSmooth feature (that displays 24p content at 96 Hz) disrupting black levels. We haven't seen any of that, either, and I use CS 90% of the time (even with DVDS, thanks to the abilities of the Panasonic BD player!).

Having moved up from a 32" full-screen Wega to this 50" widescreen plasma, I have a lot more glass that catches lots of ambient glare and reflections from new angles, but it's not nearly as bad a nuisance as I'd been led to believe, reading the AV forums, and we do use this TV in a fairly bright daytime setting as well as at night when we're more "serious" about what we watch.

We didn't break-in our TV and I haven't had any calibration done, either, but the only image-retention I occasionally see is from those stationary news-channel logos. I have used the built-in anti-IR scrolling feature maybe once a month to remove those, and recall it took about 4-5 minutes in each case. Although calibration is something I have pondered, the intensity and balance of colors produced by this TV seem fine to us; I've seen a few of the Samsung and Panasonic demo models at local retailers that were calibrated and thought they weren't any better than the set now in my living room. Not dissing calibration, just wondering if I'd really notice any improvement.

My review is that of just one owner, and I'm not really versed in the AV lingo or all the features available in the marketplace from different makes/models or technologies.

On a closing note, I am not really a football fan, but the HD game content leaves me drooling over the capabilities of this TV whenever one is showing, and I end up watching the whole game! I selected this specific television because of the integrated Netflix player. Set up took literally minutes and everything worked great until I tried to activate the built in Netflix player. I was not able to get an activation code from netflix because, although the tv could hit my home network and the internet, the player was unable to log into the Netflix activation server. I first called Netflix and was transfered to LG customer support, who were more interested in getting my phone number than working through the issue. We fumbled through a couple of things becore they informed me that they would need to send out a service tech and I would have to be available for 4 hours on a Tuesday for them to show up. Not finding this acceptable, I reached out to Netflix again. This time I got someone on the level 2 helpdesk who worked with me for about an hour on network things. Basically we determined that there was nothing wrong with my network, but that the problem resided in the television. He was willing to sit on the phone another hour with me while we brought up the LG tech on what had been done. After he walked through several remedial steps that didn't really have anything to do with the situation, the LG tech gave up and tried to schedule another on site visit. I insisted on talking to a supervisor who informed me that there was no Level 2 help desk for LG. After I pressed hard enough, she put me on hold and called someone she knew in Advanced techncal support (aparently an internal departmement). I got a promise for some to call me back. Everyone I had talked to was extremely friendly and told me over and over they wanted to help, but their depth of knowledge on this product was very weak.

After spending an hour with the advanced technical guys, they finally conceeded that they had never actaully set up a Netflix connection, but had seen one working. They also told me that there are known issues with Belkin routers (of course, that is the router I use.) I now have no less than 6 hours invested in getting Netflix to work on this tv and it still doesn't. I will now have to wait for a field tech to come out, do exactly the same things I've done over the last 6 hours and then inform me that I'll need a new board or something, but it'll have to be ordered. I should note that the other web applications integrated into the television work great, it's a shame I didn't buy the TV for them.

You know that electronic hum your old CRT would make back in the day? Take that and times it by 100 and you'll have the buzz emanating from the back of this monster. The picture is fantastic, but the buzz is UNBEARABLE (think 20' away at normal volume levels and it's clear as day!). Unfortunately this is a VERY common problem and if you venture over to AVSForum you'll find threads dedicated to this issue. Consensus is that the power supply is the culprit and it gets worse the more white (more power to make a white screen) you have in your picture.

I managed to quell the roar by wedging a roll of scotch tape between the lower left hand side of the TV and the wall, which would seem to indicate the power supply is causing the outer housing to vibrate. Regardless, some have found this trick to work, some haven't, and some haven't had a problem at all.

So all in all the picture like I said is beautiful, and with the roll of tape I'm happy as a clam. Once I have the time and once I hear people getting replacements that address and not duplicate the issue, I'll give Samsung a ring.

Now that I think about it, I should call them now...I really shouldn't have to wedge a roll of tape behind my TV to make it right. Taking the buzz away from the review and I'd give this TV five starts all day long. Picture is truly mesmerizing.

Just got it about 4 hours ago and this completely beats out my old 32". First off, the border around the TV is thin which I find GREAT. It doesn't draw your eye to it like larger glossy finishes. Out of the box most of the settings are very good, a few tweaks is your more techy tho. The speakers do pretty good as well, not surround sound but as close as it gets. I haven't set up the internet yet tho. Still need to buy a wireless bridge, which might be the only thing I found wrong with it. But that may be stretching it. I brought this tv on Amazon used. It hasn't been out very long and LED have a long life span so I decided to give a shot plus you will never see this tv for under 1800 new. Another note, a guy returned it claiming it was scatched on the side. I can live with that. I got my tv and it looked scatched. after removing the plastic it wa in perfect condition. Hooked it up and the picture is truly beyond belieft on this tv. The only picture complaint I could have with SD. Once I hooked it to blu ray the picture took a whole new life that I didn't realize I was missing from my old hd sony that I moved to the bedroom. Samsung LN32A450 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Review

Purchased this TV in March 2009. Worked fine until September. 6 months.
Now, randomly, a grey / blank overlay screen is popping up and could stay there for hours.
Power off/on does not remove the blank screen.
Happens for any source (TV/DVD/etc).
I have seen this defect with other customers on the web.

So based on my experience i would NOT recommend this TV set to anyone.

Buying SuperSonic SC499 9" LCD Portable TV With Digital Tuner

I was looking for a battery power TV expressly for use in case of a a power outage. After reading reviews on several brands of portable TV's from various places, I decided to give this one a try. Battery was fully charged when received.
The first channel scan with the provided antenna didn't pick up anything ,(I live about 20 miles from the closest broadcast tower). I hooked up an old set of rabbit ears that came with a TV that I purchased many years ago, rescanned and picked up 3 channels, one weather station, the local NBC affiliate, and something else. The weather & local news is what is important to me when the power is off, so that is fine. I hooked it to the cable, rescanned and received all my regular cable channels. For emergencies this will work. I am purchasing a 12 volt power supply that runs on 8 D cell batteries as a backup to the internal battery which lasted about 2 hours.
It has a very good picture when hooked up to rabbit ears & maybe even better when hooked to the cable.
Another note: I repositioned the rabbit ears and now get 6 channels.
The power supply I purchased is not available here. [...].
The only negatives: provided antenna & the coax connection is to tight to screw the cable to it. (I solved this with a push on connector that raises the connection enough for easy attachment of cable or antenna).
The picture of this unit posted on Amazon & elsewhere is not the SC-499D. Look at the posted customer images to see the image I posted from the manufactures website.

I did a LOT of research and I firmly believe this is the best screen for the price point at this time, however when it arrived (after 7 days) the screen was smashed to pieces. Cheapest Sony BRAVIA L Series KDL37L5000 37-Inch LCD TV (Black)

We currently have a 40" Sony LCD TV and had been looking for another LCD TV with a matte black frame. Since our other one is a Sony, when we finally found this one it was an easy choice. There is still a thin reflective outer piece around the frame, however this is by far the best out there if you dislike the reflective frames found on 99% of the TV's out there. For the price you cant beat it!

I don't mind that it's only 720p because I don't notice a difference. The other Sony we have is also 720p and has a better HD picture than some newer 1080p models I compared it to.

Overall its an excellent TV. My only complaint is that this is the largest size available in the L series.
