My parents bought an LG last year, and we always admired its picture. To be sure, we recently went to a large retail store to compare other brands and models, and we selected this model. We also purchased a 55 inch LED (also LG), and we're very happy with both, but I think this one actually has the better picture. Definitely use an HDMI cable with it--makes a huge difference.Get more detail about LG 47LH55 47-Inch 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV, Gloss Black.

It's the only TV in my small apartment - a larger screen would overwhelm both room size and wall hangings. Don't let the low pixel count scare you off; AT THESE DIMENSIONS picture quality is high. Sound quality is good for voice. As for music. it's hardly in a minor league team for my table-top BOSE.Get more detail about Toshiba 22LV610U 22-Inch 720p LCD TV with Built in DVD Player, Black.

Ordered TV on Friday Oct.2 and received it on Monday Oct.5, how is this for Service.! Package was in good condition with no damage. Price was $ 200.00 cheaper than any other stores I have checked and I checked about 50 of them, and shipping was free. Picture resolution, colors and features, are excellent and easily outperform far higher priced competitors LCDTV's. I'f also purchased a Home Theater HT-Z420 from Samsung so that I can use one remote for the whole setup due to the Anynet+ feature of Samsung's electronic products. However it took some doing to make everything work together.
Here is what I have: Motorola DCH6200 Digital HD Cable Box, Samsung LN-46B650 LCDTV, Samsumg HT-Z420 Hometheater
Here is what I did:
Remove TV cable from Cable Box and install 2way splitter. Get 2 short TV Cables and install one cable from splitter to Cable Box and the second TV Cable from Splitter to your LCDTV. Install HDMI cable from Cable Box to HDMI 1 IN on your LCDTV. Now you can use your LCDTV remote for all standard TV channels and your Cable Box remote for HBO,Cinemax etc.
Connect all Speakers to your HT-Z420 Home Theater, Install HDMI Cable and Digital Optical Cable between your Hometheater. Since your Home Theater remote has more functions for you DVD player, it is preferable to use this remote instead of the LCDTV remote. If you use HDMI cable only between your Hometheater and your LCDTV, most likely you will not be able to use the Hometheater speakers when watching regular TV channels. At least mine did not work. Overall,I am extremely happy with the Samsung Products and will post more reviews down the road.

I thought I bought this TV (which is fantastic and I love it) with 12 months no payments, no interest.
It turns out that the so-called Store Card is not the Amazon credit card--and there was no such deal
using the Credit card. I ended up with $2,899.99 on my Amazon Credit Card--all due the following month.
I called Chase--the manager was arrogant as I tried to explain the problem. She giggled and said that
she'd never heard of this offer. I called Amazon--many pages of "clickable" choices.
I finally found the "Help" link. This guy was nice but explained the difference between the Amazon Credit
Card and the Amazon Store Card and suggested I ship the TV back and redo the order. Nice in theory but
I'd already unpacked and installed the "thing" so it doesn't pan out in reality. I kept the
TV (it really is nice) and did not pack it up and ship it back, too much hassle.

Next I got an email from Amazon explaining--in so many words--how I f'd up. Nice. I wrote them back and
explained that I'd go ahead, pay off the TV then cancel mu Amazon "Confusion" Card and revert back to my Citi
card that gives me air miles. I felt better... until I received and answer back explaining that my response to THAT
email didn't go "anywhere" because it's unanswerable please go to (link such and such). I did, but once again I found
a busy page where it was difficult to come across the link to contact Amazon. Maybe if I still worked--I'm retired--I'd
have enough time (screwing off at work) to hack around and find these links and sort out all these cards, and offers,
etc. But as I explained in the email--that essentially went nowhere--that once I receive the Chase statement that I paid
the TV off--I will take great pride and joy in canceling that Amazon/Chase Credit Card and lick my wounds--they can
kiss my A-- if I ever use it again.

Signed: "Enjoying my TV," and the fact that I
am rich enough to pay off the debt and not have
to deal with jerks like the manager I dealt
with at Chase. She really reminded me of a
town hall meeting where the idiot from Congress
takes a question then calls someone on her Cell.

I love this television! I did about a week of research before committing to this purchase. Amazon had the cheapest price and the best shipping deal. Concerning features this TV does not disappoint. With its crisp picture, fantastic colors and deep blacks everything we watch is miles beyond what we were used to. I'd say the DLNA feature is the best part of this TV. I have it connected to our home network and any show I have downloaded on my computer can be brought up through the tv's built in menu. Over all... GREAT buy!Get more detail about Samsung LN40B650 40-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color.

This TV is very simple to use. Take it out of the box, turn it on, auto search channels, change picture mode to "Movie" and you have a decent TV. It sounds a little better than most HDTVs, but you buy an HDTV for the picture. If you want HDTV sound, you have to add a multi-speaker home theater system. The picture is good with "Movie" setting. Out of the box it resorts to "Sports" setting that is just awful. I even tried it with an HD football game and it blurred the grass. Picture suffers from some motion blur, but IMO all LCD TVs have motion blur. The remote is very intuitive - you can change aspect ratio on the fly. QAM tuner works well, so it plays nice with cable.

The DVD Player is what sets this combo TV apart from the pack. It upconverts DVDs and Divx beautifully. That's right it plays Divx!!! It also plays CDs, VCDs, Picture CDs, and multitrack WMA CDs.

This TV would be great for anyone building a home theater system in a confined space or confined budget. Thinking dorm room, first apartment situation. The built in DVD/CD player could be hooked to any home theater receiver with speakers via Digital Component Out.Get more detail about Toshiba 26LV610U 26-Inch 720p LCD TV with Built in DVD Player, Black.

I've done my research and I've asked around to those who had the products I was looking at. In the end I chose the SONY Bravia XBR. My brother gave it great reviews and I liked what I saw on his. He has the 40 inch and I've purchased the 46inch. Hooking it up was fairly easy for a woman who lives alone. The picture quality for HD is great. I love it. However, the sound quality is not as I had hoped. Some shows come in loud and clear while others, you have to put the volume up all the way and sit closer just to hear it well. I've gotten the home theater hooked up to it, as well, and that helps when watching DVD's. All in all, it's not a bad tv and I would recommend it to others. If SONY can improve on the sound quality this will be one supurb buy!Get more detail about Sony BRAVIA XBR Series KDL-46XBR9 46-Inch 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV, Black.

I purchased the TFTV1923 to use for training and display purposes. My most important requirement was that it be easy to carry around and have decent sound and picture. Both are fine, though the sound is tinny. It sets up easily and is perfect for use in small areas and especially in small meetings. I was unable to get any picture reception with a good digital antenna at my home office location. I know the reception in this area is decent, so was disappointed I got no hits on the channel scan. A good buy for the price and quality.Get more detail about Coby TFTV1923 19-Inch Widescreen LCD HDTV/Monitor with HDMI Input, Black.

I think this is a great purchase. I'm glad I got the "630" because it operates at 120 Hz & I haven't detected a blur in the picture. While I appreciate being able to choose between 3 sizes of text on the DIGITAL stations, I wish the same were true about the ANALOG stations. I only wish it had some kind of Channel Labeling to be used on the apparently unlimited "Favorite Stations" you can list. It would be a great help when checking out your favorite stations. If it's there, I can't find it. Other than that, I can't find anything negative to say about this item. I'll only add that in choosing between 40" & 46", I'm glad I opted for the larger & you should have a couple of adults on hand for removal from the carton & set-up. While it's not that heavy, it is a bit large for one person. Also, get an appropriate Surge Protector, so as not to have any warranty problems.Get more detail about Samsung LN46B630 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color.

I was a bit hesitant to buy this TV as I was waiting for a price drop on the Samsung LN52B750 52-Inch 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV with Charcoal Grey Touch of Color for several days. Then, at Fry's I saw Sharp's new LC52LE700UN standing next to Samsung's LN52B750 and they both looked quite similar, though Samsung's screen was slightly brighter. The picture quality appeared to be the same. I grabbed the Sharp's remote and changed the picture settings and I was able to increase the backlight up to match Samsung's level while still maintaining amazing contrast ratio and black levels.

By the end of the day I decided to go for the Sharp TV, and I had it for almost a week now. The picture looks really great at any time of the day, when the room is dark or lit (we have a side window facing south). The TV's sound is pretty good and clear, but I decided in advance that I'd like good external speakers to match this great TV.

The TV features also a VGA input (there's also an S-Video input), which is handy for connecting a computer or laptop. I tried connecting my MacBook Pro yesterday and it was able to drive it at 1344x756 (16:9) and 1344x1008 (4:3), but I couldn't get 1920x1080. The picture looks sharp, and it was good enough to watch Hulu on it.

If there's one thing I don't like about it, it's the remote, which is not really stylish to say the least (Samsung's glossy remote looks much better). That's not a deal breaker, since most common function (Power, volume, input selection) can be done by almost any Blu-ray remote anyway (I have Samsung BD-P3600 blu-ray player remote, which looks great).

Overall, this is an excellent TV for the price and the picture quality is comparable to higher-end Samsung TVs which cost few hundred dollars more.Get more detail about Sharp AQUOS LC52LE700UN 52-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV.

The biggest problem with this unit, as with plasmas in general, is the reflection off of the glass of any lights near the viewer while sitting directly in front of the TV. To remedy this, I no longer use the table lamp sitting next to me. Instead I turn a table lamp on further off to the side so it doesn't reflect directly back into my eyes. This is rather inconvenient if you are leisurely watching TV and want to read, if only during the commercials. Another minor problem is the distracting reflections off of the shiny bezel and base from lights positioned in other parts of the room (my lamp off to the side). Over-all, the picture itself is 5 star fantastic! I gave it only 4 stars because of the reflection problem. I wish they had it on a stand which would tilt and rotate so that the viewing position could easily be optimized to minimize the reflections. You can buy stands that tilt (and maybe rotate) but the one I looked at which tilted was quite expensive. The sound is unimpressive but I compliment it by also playing it through an amplifier with external speakers. Pro: Unique styling, good picture quality if you are directly in front and at the same height as the TV, great price, good reception.

Con: Really poor sound. Has external sound jack, but the sound volume is constant, even if you mute the TV sound, external sound is the same. Off axis picture quality deteriorates quickly as you move from dead center either up/down or left/right. Not reliable, after 45 days, the power button (only) stopped responding - remote works, but the on unit power button is broken.

On the whole, this unit is more trouble than it is worth. Called the [...] customer service number and they will send a refurbished unit if I don't mind waiting and wading through the process of verification and shipping. They will send a prepaid shipping label once they have acceptable proof of purchase, and are very courteous on the phone.

It is tough to buy a unit without first seeing and trying it - but then there is the reliability problem, wish me better luck next time. Get more detail about Westinghouse PT-16H610S 15.6-Inch Portable Dual-Hinged LCD HDTV.

I purchased product and then found out to my disappointment that it came from J & R and not Amazon. I only want to deal with Amazon, or I'd go to J & R site. I waited a month with no TV and then contacted merchant. Their response was "sorry, we don't have it in stock, we'll refund your money", which they haven't done yet.

Buying Panasonic VIERA S1 Series TC-P58S1 58-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV, Black

I bought this TV from Amazon. That was a decision arrived at only after a long and meticulous research about plasma vs LCD-LED. I also did a comparison between Panasonic S1 and V10 models. I used extensive reviews of postings by owners at the AVS forums. I already owned a Panasonic 50" plasma, a Samsung LCD 52" so I have a pretty good idea of what I want and need.

First and foremost I want a TV which is reliable and free of defects. So in comparing Samsung and Panasonic plasmas, I have to say that the reports of buzzing noise from Samsung sets turned me off. About 34% of those onwers polled a avs forums reported the problem. Although this was based on only a few hundred people and thhe sample was not random and statistically meaningless, it does indicate a potential problem. So I ruled out the Samsung plasma.

The difference in price between the S1 and V10 Panasonic is substantial for me. You can see for yourself at Amazon depending on the size you prefer. In addition, the S1 has the same glass panel as the V10 being a 2009 model. What the S1 does not have is Viera Internet connection and more picture control in the menu. The V10 is also thinner and is reported by reviewers and owners to have a better picture.

Most people already have Pandora, Netflix, youtube etc... internet connection through their BD players or Tivo. So internet is really something I do not want nor need. I figure that with Service Menu (SM) adjustements, called offsets of the various parameters posted by professional calibrators, the S1 picture can be tweaked to about 95-98% of the V10 at a substantial savings.

I ruled out LCD-LED because of the size limitation.

So how did I make out.

1. Delivery was made by Pilot, two persons who helped setup the set and plug in the power to see if everything is working. I was very grateful and gave them a significant tip.
2. I used the breakin slided and turned down the contrast and brightness settings during the first 120 hours. Then I adjusted the SM offsets and the result is a picture a bright as my Samsung LCD and with far better black and color. No green or red push.
3. I have no use for Viera Cast available from my BD player. So S1 was the right choice for me.
4. I have windows facing the TV so there is reflection and glare.
5. The TV is 20% heavier than the Samsung for the same size, but it is really well built. No buzz. No dead pixels.

I am pretty content with my choice of the S1. the V10 is a better set but I did not regret my purchase.

I seldom if ever write reviews, but this will be an exception. After extensive looking for a 16 x 9 aspect ratio small tv set which I could hang above my kitchen countertop and below the kitchen cabnets, I finally came to the conclusion that this was one of the "very" few which there was to choose from.

For a lcd tv of this size, it is well endowed with neat features... inputs, such as HDMI, S video, etc. The cost of this set is relative inexpensive ($176 from Amazon's dealer, "J&R") and it is a nice looking unit. Oh, did I also say that it is the only set of it's size catagory with the universal "VESA" mounting capability on it's back side.

It looks nice, has a great picture, and fits perfect. So, why not five star rating? The audio !! It is simply not very good... in fact, the telephone actually has almost as good a sound quality. Even setting the tone controls (in the menu), it still sounds like two tin cans with a string.

Several other reviews spoke of this, and I must say that now that I own this set, I concur 100%. If you are listening to voice it isnt "that bad", but dont say you were not warned that the sound is poor. Yes, I'm keeping the set, cause it's a pefect fit with excellent picture, and, well.... I'll get use to the sound -- after all, it's only used when in the kitchen (when there is a football game on, and you cant afford to miss a play).Get more detail about ViewSonic N1630w 16-Inch 720p LCD HDTV.

Amazon hasn't updated its page for the LN32B650. Samsung has changed what qualifies for in-home warranty service, and guess what - the 32 inch model no longer qualifies. I called Samsung and they confirmed that if you want warranty service, you have to mail your television to the warranty service provider AT YOUR EXPENSE. Yes, no return shipping label, nothing but a vague statement from customer service that Samsung will reimburse for shipping costs "in certain circumstances."

Imagine, $150 to send your $900 television to New Jersey for "warranty service." Now, imagine your blood pressure exceeding normal limits. Get more detail about Samsung LN32B650 32-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color.

This TV is great with HDMI sources. I'm having some trouble with my standard def cable. The whole image keeps tilting from right to left and left to right, happends like once in 3 mins. This only happens when I use the composite (Yellow, red and white) cables. When I connect something to the TV using the HDMI inputs, it works flawlessly. So I dont know whats the deal with it. Doesn't matter anyways, because I'm getting HD cable soon and it'll use a HDMI input instead of standard low def cable.

In other areas this TV is great! The picture quality is awesome! Very nicely packaged in the manufacture box. The remote is kinda huge, but its not a problem. So yeah, you should totally buy it, For the great price this TV definitely delivers.Get more detail about Samsung LN32B530 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color.

I purchased this TV to replace a two-year old Samsung that was stolen from my home. I was *very* impressed with my old Samsung and had high expectations for this newer model. The picture is stunning! And the super-slim dimensions of the set make it easy to move around for setup. But I was dumbfounded at how poor the audio quality is. Even after playing with the equalizer and other sound settings for a half hour, it still sounded worse than the old 13" tube TV sitting in the bedroom. The sound was hallow, very much lacking in the mid and low ranges. I blame part of this on the fact that the speakers are rear-firing...they point out of the rear of the TV, no doubt expecting to bounce off a wall. The sound improved slightly the closer to the wall the set was placed, but never to the point of sounding "good". If your application for this TV includes a sound bar or other audio setup, then I'd give this set a try - the picture is really fantastic. But if you need a TV that does both video AND audio well, you'll want to consider other options.Get more detail about Samsung UN46B6000 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV.

The set is awesome. Plenty of picture adjustments so everyone should be able to find or create a picture they like. HD at its finest and a picture that will wow you. The THX mode is nice for movies but I do find it a little on the Green side. Looking into calibration settings on CNET and AV forums to see what can be done to adjust. This TV is about what I expected from a lower priced TV: nothing outstanding, but good, solid functionality and quality. We use this at our cottage on a wall mount to save space. We simply play the DVD/VCR through it since we don't have a cable hook-up. It's more than fine for that purpose.Get more detail about Coby TFTV2224 22-Inch Widescreen LCD HDTV/Monitor with HDMI Input, Black.

I'm very happy with my new Sharp. The picture is very nice, it was easy to set up when I received it (didn't even open the manual yet), and the remote control was thoughtfully designed. I just hooked it up to a regular TV antenna bought at the dollar store, and it picked up all the digital channels in my area with no problem.

The only thing I don't like about it is that the sound isn't rich like on my old-fashioned TV. I haven't tried hooking it up to a computer yet, or a DVD player, so can't comment on that. It's a good buy, especially for the price. Get more detail about Sharp LC22SB27UT 22-Inch LCD HDTV, Black.

This tv performs all the normal tasks as per spec's.
The biggest flaws are:
1. The lack of printed manual.
2. The remote is chintzy, and isn't lighted.
My biggest Pluses are:
1. Great picture quality.
2. Good on board speakers.
3. Lots of HDMI ports.
4. Attractive appearance.
One special alert:
1. My DirecTV remote didn't list LG as a recognized TV.
a.You must KNOW that LG = LUCKY GOLDSTAR in the DirecTv remote
codes list. Then you can proceed to program the sat.'remote.
This is really a criticism of DirecTv, not LG.

A more robust remote and a printed manual would make this set a 5 star buy in my book.

There were so many reasons that I was convinced I would never buy a plasma TV: 1. They run hot. 2. They use huge amounts of energy. 3. They last half as long as LCD-screen TV's 4. The image burn-in ruins the display if you don't watch it like a hawk constantly. 5. Plus, I live at over 6,000 feet above sea level and plasma sets are supposed to act strangely up here and make funny noises.

Well, after a GREAT deal of research of all kinds, I became convinced that, at least by 2009, none of this was true anymore. Still, I had had my heart set on a latest-generation Sony XBR for years, and it was just a matter of time before I got one. But that changed about six weeks ago.

My Panny G15 50" plasma has an absolutely gorgeous picture -- particularly when viewing presentations at 1080p, especially Blu-Ray movies. Hi-def cable shows look great also. And no matter what you're watching, plasma really does give you ultra-deep blacks and contrast ratios that LCD TV's simply are not physically capable of matching. And image burn-in? Really, unless you go off and leave the set displaying a static, unmoving image for many hours (at least) you are highly unlikely to have any burned-in image.

The Panasonic plasma sets are made by Panasonic itself, and it is one of the very few manufacturers that actually makes its own plasma screens. Perhaps this has some bearing on why the quality is so good. My set has the Energy Star seal, and it is reputed to use only half the power that plasma sets used as little as three years ago.

There is no "high-altitude" effect that I can see or hear at all, and I notice that today, Panasonic plasma sets are rated for at least 60,000 hours of life, which is the same as the rating for Sony XBR sets (with a tube, not a bulb). Another thing you should know is that there is nothing at all flimsy about the support pedestal. I've read some reviews that suggest it would be easy to break the stand, or tip the TV over. You'd have to deliberately crash right into the G15 in order to break the stand or knock it over because it is very sturdy indeed.

Oh, there was another motivation for buying the Panny G15 over an XBR9 -- I saved one thousand dollars, comparing a 50" G15 with a 52" XBR9. Price was not my driving motivation because I'd waited over five year to carefully select a widescreen TV, but, if you like the Panny's display better, and you save a thousand bucks? Kind of a no brainer.

Yes, there is one thing I'm not thrilled about with the Panny, and others have written about it, too -- the rather mediocre in-set speakers. This isn't a big deal for me since I always port the audio to my home theater stereo when watching a presentation in which I even care very much about the audio. Still, yes, the speakers in my wonderful old Toshiba 36" CRT set were quite a bit better.

Last bit of advice: DO NOT clean the screen of a Panasonic G15 except exactly as instructed in the owner's manual! Do NOT use Windex or any product with ammonia. The G15 has an excellent anti-reflective coating and you don't want to mess it up!Get more detail about Panasonic TC-P50G15 50" VIERA® G15 Series 1080p THX®-certified plasma HDTV.

The product is good but the guy who deliever did not even open the box and take it out. We late found out it was a openned box and then called Amazon customer service. They said they are willing to give $40 for that and I said it was too little since we don't know what would have been done on the tv and it cost more than $2000. Then he forward the call to the other department of Amazon and said they might give us better reimbursement but the lady at that department even said it was not their fault and would not compensate anything! I have to spend more than 30 minute to argue with them and mentioned that it should be some kind of white glove delievery and eventually get the $40 back. I am kind of afraid to place another order from Amazon!Get more detail about Sony BRAVIA V-Series KDL55V5100 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD TV, Black.

Not always the first one to jump on the bandwagon, I was definitely leery about spending a bundle of cash on an HD set when my tube TV seemed just fine. This is, of course, until Amazon and other retailers had this baby available earlier this year at a fantastic...unbeatable, really, price.

Now, I warmed to the idea, but again, I need to know what exactly I'm doing with my hard earned cash. I spent countless hours not only deciding the LCD -vs- Plasma -vs- DLP debate (I settled on plasma), but which brand/size/etc I definitely wanted to stick with until the next "latest and greatest" technology craze bites.

I concluded the Panasonic 42" TH-42PX80U was the way to go. Not only do multiple professional reviews give Panasonic props for displaying the truest blacks, but they also produce a plasma which should have the capacity to run approximately 8 hours a day for the next 20 years. For the price compared ot LCD, at the time, it was a no-brainer for me.

So, while I'm not much for opening new credit cards, I did accept Amazons offer to create a credit line for no interest over a period of six months. To sweeten the deal, I also received Amazon's 'White Glove Delivery' service. A1 absolutely fantastic.

Four months with the new TV, and I'm smitten. It looks great and connected nicely with my Denon AV surround receiver. Blue Ray's look great, as do the new episodes of Lost, and as I'm sure it will when the Cubs win the series this year ;-). Can't believe it took me so long to come around and I have absolutely ZERO regrets trusting Panasonic with my television needs.

I should say, I do not use the TV's audio. this is NOT because the sound is poor; its actually outstanding. I just prefer to put my full audio system to use.Get more detail about Panasonic Viera TH-42PX80U 42-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV.

Vizio VA220E 22" Eco Friendly Energy Efficient HDTV 720 / 1080i Review

I purchased this TV for my 13 year old after repainting his room and kicking out his younger brother. The picture is clear and very vibrant. Side and angle viewing is also good. The audio has an SRS surround mode which sounds great at higher levels. At low levels it can be a bit empty with little bass but if you turn it up great spatial sound comes through. Remember, when you are looking at these TV's at your local WalMart what you are seeing is a direct feed digital signal, DO NOT expect this kind of quality unless you have high def reception or are watching a DVD. Also, depending on how your cable provider sends it's signal you may still see black bars on the top and bottom of the pictue. I spoke with Vizio Support about this and they were very helpful and explained. To be honest, my old 19inch CRT still has a bigger and better picture for normal television viewing!Get more detail about Vizio VA220E 22" Eco Friendly Energy Efficient HDTV 720 / 1080i.

Sharp LC19SB25U 19-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Top Quality

I wanted a TV for my home office and felt a 19 inch set would be more than adequate. We own a 36" Sharp for our downstairs family room which is now about 3 1/2 years old. We love its picture and quality so I looked for a Sharp if possible.

I found this set at Wal-Mart for $168.00 which I thought was a good price. All I did was unpack it, attach the coaxial cable and plug it in. I haven't fussed with any adjustments. The sound is perfectly fine for my 12' by 9' foot office. I think this set is great for this kind of location or in a kitchen. Get more detail about Sharp LC19SB25U 19-Inch 720p LCD HDTV.

Shop For FAVI 19 inch Black 720p LCD HDTV USB/Card Reader/DVD Combo, L1918A-V-BL

I bought this TV for my office and for certain specific features, including most importantly the ability to play PAL video (I work in television and need cross-compatibility). Because of this feature, I'm keeping the TV but if I had bought it for an entertainment machine, I would probably have returned it.

The best thing about this TV/DVD combo is that it accepts numerous inputs, including VGA and other video ports, USB and flash cards and the aforementioned PAL DVDs. These were a selling point for me, however, the PAL playback is the only feature that has worked without a hitch.

* The VGA works adequately but the TV sometimes doesn't recognize the computer -- I have to turn the TV off and on, or switch inputs multiple times before the VGA shows up. The computer recognizes the TV adequately as a plug and play device but I found no drivers or firmware updates available on the Web site support section to help make the whole thing work smoother. VGA display is soft, as you would expect with a TV. Text is readable but not crisp. Streaming on Netflix via WMC looked terrible on my first try. I am considering trying a lower resolution.

* Using a USB stick I tried various types of files. JPGs looked unacceptably jaggy -- far worse than the same images on my computer monitor or a DVD picture frame; I would never use this for a digital photo frame unless it looks better reading from a CD. I tried playing AVIs, MPEGs and WMV video. Few of the files were recognized and none played. This was a real disappointment as I had looked forward to this feature. Interface for reading from the card was about the industry standard, which is to say not pretty or terribly intuitive but you can basically get it to work.

* TV display is adequate depending on input. The display does fairly well with SD video, however HD was slightly distorted by the TV's 16:10 aspect ratio. While you can adjust zoom on the DVD player, it doesn't work with the TV input and there is no control for aspect ratio. This also means you can't pillarbox SD images, but here the 16:10 ratio works in your favor and the picture looks fine.

HD was crisp at times, and heavily pixelated at other times, with identical clips looking fine on my Samsung 32 inch TV (i.e., it's the TV not the source file). Native HD through the cable connection and tuner was superior to HDMI, which was noticably pixelated at times. This is on my desk, so I am sitting close, but even allowing for this, the display needs work. Unfortunately, less than half the channels on my cable system were recognized through the onboard tuner and only the local stations were in HD, so HDMI from the cable box appears to be my best option if I want to view in HD.

* Sound is fine, if unremarkable.

* Menus are clunky, but very few TVs have smooth and easy controls. They're comparable to the industry standards but not a selling point.

If I were only interested in having a nice looking TV/DVD combo, especially if it were for pleasure use, there are better models priced lower. But for the PAL functionality, and since the main use for the TV is a combination monitor/office news TV, I'll probably keep it, with reservations. But buyers should be aware of the model's limitations.

One other plus: I had a query to FAVI about Amazon's shipping estimate. I got an instant response and follow-up within a couple of hours, so big points for service. Get more detail about FAVI 19 inch Black 720p LCD HDTV USB/Card Reader/DVD Combo, L1918A-V-BL.

I was perfectly satisied with the product for the price. The battery that came with it would not hold a charge, however, so I called the customer service number for iView. Then somehow, I lost the coaxial adapter, I called to buy one, again live person answers, no menu, no press "1" type thing and NO wait on hold! They just took my info and are sending me out a new one FREE!!! Where To Buy Sharp Aquos LC52D64U 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

.

I may be a little biased, as this is my first HDTV, but the 52 inch Sharp Aquos really works for me. I was a little concerned that the picture would look strange at certain angles, like my Samsung monitor does, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Even at rather extreme angles the Aquos looks just fine, the only real difference is that the colors become weaker and not quite as strong. The sound is decent, certainly not home theater good, but the best I've ever heard from a TV. The Aquos has plenty of inputs, both in the back of the TV and on the right hand side. From the TV's menu, there's choices of 7 different inputs. Adjusting the picture is easy enough, with the exception of the "backlight" adjustment on the picture, which is confusing simply because I don't know what it does.

All and all, a great TV, and Amazon has it for the best price I've seen.Get more detail about Sharp Aquos LC52D64U 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV.

Over all, I like the quality of this TV. However, based on the quality and prices of tvs in it's size class, I would definitely not recommend this tv if you have room for a component DVD player. The only reason I purchased this tv was for convenience and space. You can definitely get a better TV for less without the built in DVD. Cheap Sceptre 19" 720p LCD HDTV with ROHS Compliances - X19GV-HDTV

I purchased this tv this week for $201, tax included, for a spare bedroom. I previously purchased two RCA HD televisions, so I can say that the Sceptre 19-inch TV is worth the price. It's a good bargain. The sound and picture are okay. It seemed loud enough and looked good enough. I'm not that particular, but I know when these things aren't great. It's not full-on HD, but consider the price. The menu is pretty straightforward. Setup was ridiculously easy. It took 5 minutes. It has basic features like automatically trying to find channels in HD, a sleep timer, picture presets, to name a few. The only drawback that I can see so far is that there isn't a clock. But I can live with it. After all it wasn't that expensive.Get more detail about Sceptre 19" 720p LCD HDTV with ROHS Compliances - X19GV-HDTV.

After looking around at many brands I decided to get the Sylvania. I found it at Target on sale for $599 and snatched it up! The picture is perfect and has all the features I need to watch my movies and tv shows. The digital tuner also works very well where I live. I had another 42" flatscreen before this one (it was stolen) and it works just as well, if not better. Very happy with my purchase!Get more detail about Sylvania LC427SSX 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV.
