The 55LH90 has as excellent picture. The audio lip sync is horrible via HDMI. I called customer support 9/25/09. They said they had a fix that they would mail to me. I would see it within 7-10 days. 15 days later I called again. They said their support policy had changed. I would receive a telephone call within 7-10 (additional) days to schedule a service call from LG to install the fix. I had to ask for a manager to even get that promise. The regular customer support said I would just have to wait for a call, without any response time defined. They were not even sure that a fix had been found. I am so excited to share a few things with you about my purchase.

DELIVERY:
Delivery was VERY smooth...make sure you get the "white glove" service if you don't have someone to help you because the box is huge and it takes TWO men to carry it inside. PLUS the delivery men take it out of the box and plug it in and check it to make sure that it didn't get damaged during transporting. Worth the extra money!

SETUP
I had Dish Tv come and set it up for me because I bought a new HD TV receiver and I am a woman...so better to have Dish do it than me trying to figure it out...however, the connections and the book look very simple after all!

PICTURE SETTINGS V/S FACTORY SETTINGS
The picture is so perfect, that I have never even wanted to adjust it...I think the "factory settings" are PERFECT, and wonderfully bright and clear and I am VERY excited over the picture quality of this Samsung TV.

TOUCH OF COLOR V/S GLARE?
Regarding the "Touch of Red Color"...I can't even notice any red touch of color at all..it is SO SUBTLE... and there is NO glare or problem with it either in the daylight or the nightlight.
It's PERFECT...don't know what others were fussing about!!??

"FIVE DIFFERENT SIZES" of PICTURE...your choice!
Here is something no one has talked about (not in any of the previous reviews):
This is a feature that I LOVE SO MUCH...and that is: You have "Five different" sizes or ways that you can view your picture in! That is right. Here are the following sizes that you can control from your remote (even with my Dish remote):
1. you can use the "normal" size which takes on whatever the show is offering the program in...

2. You can use the "stretch" size which stretches the whole picture from side to side and it does fill out the "whole" screen...

3. you can use the "partial zoom" which "enlarges" the whole picture...

4. you can use the "zoom" size which really
enlarges the total picture on your screen... great if you have company that is sitting further away...

5. You can use the "gray bar" which has an about "4" gray stripe on each side with the picture in the middle (no gray strips on the top or bottom...and this looks very nice).

The "normal size" picture sometimes fills up the whole screen but sometimes has "black "4" strips on the sides of the picure (like the gray bars size), but it depends on the program or movie you watch...because the "normal size"
will change with the program...but you can change it to any of the "5 different size settings" with your remote...
I LOVE THIS FEATURE!!! Keeps you from getting bored...but most of all you can try all the different 5 sizes to see
which one makes the picture look the best...LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!...and can't believe that no one ever mentioned this
in their reviews that I read.

The reason I bought this brand is because I went to several large stores selling TVs and looked and compared all
their tvs that were displayed next to each other...WOW...the Samsung totally BLOWS ALL the other brands OUT OF THE WATER PEOPLE!!! Go and see for yourself... I had to laugh, that at one store, they had the Samsung tvs and the Samsung Blu-Ray player completely far away from the other brands...or they would probably not be able to sell the others!!! LOL

LG 50PQ30 50-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV Right now

TV was not clear when hooked up to my old DVD player (with component video cables) or my comcast cable box. Called the LG repair guy and he said I needed to get an HD box from Comcast which costs extra. So i got the HD cable box now and the HD channels are clear, but the regular channels are still not that clear. In fact they are worse than my old projection TV. I'm not sure if it's Comcast or the TV. Also, my DVD picture is still unclear sometimes--especially the menu screens. But once you get into the movie it seems to clear up. Maybe I need a blue ray DVD player...but this TV is only 720p...

You take it out of the box, attach the base (3 screws), put the included batteries in the remote, hook up the cable, plug it in, hit power, answer a few questions and it starts to automatically scan for channels which takes 10 minutes or so.
Voila, you're watching and listening to TV. If you get a HD signal, they come in fine. For that you'd enter 5 for standard def. channel 5 and 5-1 for the HD channel 5. Easy.
The audio is, well, it's not great but it does allow you to plug in speakers or an AVR if you like. There are also 2 HDMI, component, and compositite video connections.

I bought this tv because of the netcast/netflix internet option. The netflix takes a second to come setup and works great. The audio on this tv is great for a LCD. The color are pretty good but the blacks are light especially in dark scenes (this is my only compliant). Also there is some concerns that cnet.com pointed out in regard to how this tv processes 1080p. If you are looking for a TV with out of this world picture that than this is not it (I would suggest a newer LED model or older Sony/Samsung). This TV is for those who really want the yahoo widgets and netflix/youtube. Another drawback is that it has no wireless connectivity.

I would still recommend getting it if you can live with lighter blacks and really love netflix.com.

I just received this TV from Amazon 2 days ago, so my opinions are based on first impressions...

This actually the first Sony HDTV I've owned. I have a 32" Sharp LCD from 2005 (which is still a great TV) and I owned a 40" Samsung LCD from 2006 which recently died. This is my first 1080p television. As with most of these sets, you will need to make adjustments for a while to get things just the way you like. I spent a couple of hours fine tuning the picture settings on this set and wow! As far as television viewing, SD picture quality is so-so which i have come to expect. Combine that with my cable company's poor signal compression level and there are just certain channels that make you turn your head away. HD channels are another story. This is where this TV shines. Channels like Discovery and HD Theater pop off the screem, almost Blu Ray quality. Audio quality is not the best, but as i believe someone else mentioned, if you're investing in a set like this, chances are you're going to have a 5.1 or 7.1 setup to go with it, which i do, so the onboard speakers arent an issue...

As far as Blu Ray viewing, I have only thrown in a couple of discs to see how this set handles them. I fed my PS3 "Baraka" and what i had intended to be a 5 minute PQ test ended up lasting about 40 minutes. It's that amazing. Watching a particular scene in "Quantum of Solace" i was completely floored (The airplane chase sequence) With the motionflow and cinema settings fine tuned, the landscape in particular during this sequence almost looked 3-D!

One of the major marketing points for this set are it's "Eco-friendly" tools, many of which i've disabled. The motion sensor that sits in the middle of the speaker grille is useless to me because my center channel speaker blocks it. I do like that fact that there's a "kill switch" on the side of the set that cuts all power consumption. When my wife and I travel we usually unplug our appliances so having this should keep me from having to get behind the TV stand and unplug the set amongst other things.

Additionally as others have mentioned, I would have preferred that Sony placed more of the HDMI outputs on the back of the set as opposed to the side. I bought this TV to go into the basement that I renovated in my house. I wanted a theather size picture to go into the movie screening room. This TV is amazing. It is rich in color with blacks and whites that are thick and rich which makes all the other colors pop off the screen. HD and blu-ray viewing are great, it's like looking out the window.

It's so light weight for it's size. Me and my 16 year old daughter brought it from the garage into the basement.

The sound however is not that good only 10w speakers, so an audio reciever and speakers are necessary for theather quality sound.

The remote works and does it's job, but could have been better (the buttons are small and confusing).

They advertise the 3D aspect of the TV, but failed to to tell you that you need a high spec computer and expensive 3D glasses to use it.

Even with the above cons I have to say I am very pleased with this purchase. Movie nights and watching the big games are events at my home now for my family and I.

I have heard people say bulbs are expensive for TV's like this and they are, but not for this TV. I went out and ordered a backup bulb from Mitsubishi's web site and only paid $98.00 + tax. Hopefully I wont need it for a long time.

I purchased two TV's. This one & a Panasonic VIERA G10 Series TC-P46G10 46-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV. Quite frankly, I expected the Panasonic to have a better picture. In fact, the Samsung is a superior picture. It is a clean, crisp picture. It has a really natural look to it. It's incredibly easy to navigate through the options & set up. So far (I've had for about 1 month) the only drawback I had was changing channels with the remote. It has to warm up before it changing channels and that takes three times longer than turning on TV. I had U-Verse installed shortly after the purchase and use that remote to change channels. There is no lag with that or the VCR remote. The picture is clear at all angles. I did a lot of research before purchasing my first LCD television. I decided on the Regza, and was very please with the picture quality. I haven't seen any other LCD that surpasses the picture quality, but MANY that fall far short of the quality of the Regza. Given my level of satisfaction with my first Regza, I purchased another larger set for the new home. Again, very satisfied with the picture quality.

I only have one complaint. The right speaker vibrates to certain tones. Strangely, it seems to be tied to a certain level or quality of recording, because it's not always vibrating. But, let's say I'm watching a program on the Discovery channel. For the entire program, the speaker will frequently vibrate. Then, I'll watch a baseball game on ESPN and will not hear a vibration through the entire game. Anyway...I've got external audio system hooked up, so when I REALLY want the quality I can just mute the TV and turn on the receiver.

This problem is probably a one-off, so I will not let it affect the overral rating here. I just don't want to deal with the hassles of returning the darn thing and waiting for ages to get the new one.

That said, I highly recommend the Toshiba Regza!

Good reliable TV. I mounted this TV in my motorhome although the instructions from Sony state that the TV should not be installed in a moving vehicle. I mounted it to a wall mount and it works just fine. Good sound and picture. The only drawback is that I move my motorhome often and the TV autotune takes up to 50 minutes to do an Autosearch to reset available channels in the area.

Mitsubishi WD-73C9 73-Inch 1080p Flat panel DLP Home Theater Get it now!

I got the 73" C9 3 days ago. Blu rays, xbox 360, and HD DVR are all AWESOME on it. There are tons of tweaks to picture, color, etc.

The C9 has the same 2 settings that the 737 supposedly had exclusive (deepfield imager and sharp edge) from the C9 series.

The C9 appears to be the exact same TV as the 737 but with different marketing (big box stores, discount model etc).

It is a huge and beautiful screen right out of the box, my wife made me tone it down a bit. I love big bright colors and she doesn't. So I changed a few settings here and there and got a happy medium for both of us. I am really happy with this LCD. The newtwork features are what really set this set apart. I am sure these type of features will soon be common, but for now LG is leading the way. Under NETCAST, you have streaming Netflix, Vudu HD movies and youtube. The Netflix setup was easy and the movies lookedmuch better than I expected. I tried both SD and HD movies and they looked good but of course I will be glad when they get a better HD selection. The Vudu movie service is one of my favorite features and not evem because of the easy access to streaming HD movies at your finger tips. They lso have all the latest movies, so it's a better selection than Netflix. The youtube streaming also looked much better than expected. The other nice feature of this set is the ability to use the usb drive to connect a thumb drive or hard drive and watch video clips, pictures or listen to music. You can also view media on your network, so this tv really does it all. Oh and the yahoo widgets are aslo available. They allow you to watch Yahoo videos, follow your Twitter account, yahoo weather, news, sports, stocks and Flickr. I have had this TV for a about 6 weeks. This TV has fantastic color and resolution.
This TV as indeed at "best buy" from a leading consumer magazine. I never considered a JVC
before. My brands were Samsung and Sony. But, after buying this JVC, I have become a big JVC fann.

Everyone who as seen this TV is amazed by the rich colors and excellent resolution.

We use a DirecTV HD box as a source as well as a Panasonic blue-ray player. Both give
perfect colors.

My next project will be to hook this TV up to a Fit-PC2 to create my own, very inexpensive
entertainment center able to play any movie any time.

I do not know what the one negative reviewer was complaining about. You can pay 2x for comparable
TV from Sony or Samsung.

I can't say enough good things about this TV. If you buy it, I am sure you will be happy with it.


The only negative is that the styling is "unique" and takes a bit getting used to. The blue
light accents are a bit weird but, when you match it up with the blue lights on the DirectTV HD

This TV looks absolutely amazing, I would highly recommend anyone looking for a large TV (in the range of 60"+) to get a DLP TV. Try finding a plasma or LCD of this size that's comparably priced--they don't exist. TV is very easy to setup, has excellent picture quality, great sound (suitable until you can setup a surround sound install for it) and a great price. The only downside is that DLP televisions are thicker generally than Plasma and LCD so they aren't usually wall mounted, but for a savings of 1000+ USD, who cares?

One thing I will say is, if you go to a brightly lit showroom and compare LCD to Plasma to DLP, you will probably think that DLP isn't as good, because under that bright and harsh a light, the brighter a TV appears, the better you assume the picture quality, but then when you bring it home those super bright colors just appear washed out and harsh. Also, when dealing with LCD and Plasma, after 20,000 or so hours they will be significantly dimmer and at around 40,000 hours they will probably be unwatchable and you'll have to buy an entirely new TV. With DLP, after a few years you just need to pop in a new lamp at the cost of around 100 bucks, and you've basically got a brand new TV.

Bottom line, if you want a very large TV that supports 1080P and 120HZ (important for watching fast action scenes filmed at 24 FPS) and don't mind having to buy a stand instead of a wall mount kit, then DLP is the way to go and this TV is among the best value in the DLP realm.

I have owned this Sharp Aquos 32-inch LCD TV for over half a year, and I continue to be impressed with it. However, consumers should focus upon their particular needs, since their desires might not match my own.

RESOLUTION --
First, this is a 720p resolution screen. Yet, as a 32-inch screen, this resolution is more than sufficient. Viewing distance is important with this television. I have it placed at the end of my bed, approximately 10 feet from where I normally view the television. The picture is AMAZING from this distance. However, if I sit at the foot of my bed (only 3 feet or less from the screen), I can see a great deal of pixelation. There are various websites that can calculate the proper viewing distance for each size of screen and resolution. I highly recommend using these calculations when choosing an LCD TV, since most stores will place these "smaller" HDTV's in isles where you are standing within 3 feet of the screen, giving you a distorted perspective on how the screen will actually look within your home. I suggest finding a venue where you can stand the proper distance away from the screen to evaluate the picture quality.

CONTRAST RATIO --
While the Sharp Aquos may have a lower contrast ratio than its competitors, please note that most competitors utilize their "dynamic" contrast ratio as their base line. For those familiar with digital imagery, this means that when using the "dynamic" range, the images are "stretched" (with the darkest pixels contrasting sharply with the lightest tones). I must admit that the Sharp Aquos has a horrible Dynamic range function. Like most dynamic range LCD TV settings, it makes each color garishly bright (this might be nice if you watch football and want the astro-turf to look greener than green, but it's not pleasant to watch if you are viewing a drama or action film). The benefit of the Sharp Aquos is that the "Standard" contrast setting is exponentially better than the "dynamic" setting of any of its competitors. It provides a true-color experience, (more like a well-adjusted CRT television yet in high-def) without the hyper-contrasted colors and tones of similar HDTV's.

VIEW MODES --
The Sharp Aquos has a half dozen pre-set viewing modes, including "Standard" (which I prefer for most purposes) and "Movie" (which increases the soft golden tones you would expect from a theater experience, like the old Kodachrome film). Each preset can be modified with fairly detailed options and saved as the preferred mode for an individual input. This means that you might fine-tune the "movie" setting to your own preferences, and then save that as the default setting for watching DVD's. If you pop in a DVD, that preset will automatically be used. But if you change to watching Cable television, the Sharp Aquos will automatically switch to whatever other view mode you chose to associate with that input. There are also the "User" (customized) mode, and a "Gaming" (high contrast) mode, as well as the additional two "dynamic" mode functions.

There is also the unique OPC option (which can be saved as a preference on any of the view modes listed above). It reads the ambient light in your room and adjusts the backlight of the LCD accordingly. I like this because it saves energy and adds hours/days/months to the life of your television (the bulb will eventually burn out -- more quickly if it is on its maximum setting all the time without the OPC). In fact, watching movies in a pitch-black room, I've noticed I get blinded by the brightness of this screen if I don't turn OPC on. That's how wonderfully bright the screen can be (yet does not need to be all the time).

INPUTS--
I have an HD-DVR hooked up through Verizon FIOS using an HDMI cable. Verizon sends out HD at 1080, and standard definition television at 480. But this TV only displays 480 (native) or 720 (downsampled from Verizon's 1080). The Sharp Aquos is able to quickly recognize and convert each signal to the proper resolution within about 1.5 seconds of switching between Hi-Def and Standard-Definition channels (between 480 and 1080), providing amazingly clear images from down-sampled HDTV signals. I have been consistently amazed at the HD picture of this television, including action-packed movies and television shows with fast movement.

Note that most cable companies broadcast their HD in 720 (the native resolution of this television), so you do not need Verizon/Fios to attain this quality.

I also have a PS2 connected to this television. When I first connected it with the standard "composite" video cables (the "Red, White and Yellow" cables) it was horrendous. However, hooking that same PS2 through the "component" cables made the video games appear almost movie-like. I was greatly impressed.

I do have a standard DVD player (not up-sampled) connected to the Sharp Aquos through "component" video cables. The output is exceptional, with no issues.

I have also hooked up my iPod Classic to this television, using the iPod-to-composite cables (available online, but nearly all such cables are sold separately). For down-sampled videos (iPod videos that were only meant for the iPod screen), these images were sub-par on the Aquos HDTV. However, for videos purchased at HD resolution through iTunes, the picture was amazing on the Aquos.

SOUND --
My wife and I have been surprised by the complaints about the Sharp Aquos on-board speakers. We watch our T.V. within a relatively small bedroom, and the on-board sound regularly tricks us to think the special effects are coming from outside the house. The sound quality also depends upon the input. I've noticed that the best sound comes from my HDMI inputs. I do own a surround-sound 5 speaker system that we use occasionally with this Aquos set (the audio output is easily accessible on this TV) but we have found few reasons to use it, other than the truly blockbuster sci-fi or action films. Most of the time we use the on-board speakers and keep the volume set at about 1/4 of the total output. That is PLENTY loud. Much beyond that and we'd be covering our ears (and probably damaging the speakers).

OVERVIEW --
A great HDTV for a medium-sized room when the viewers will be between 8 and 10 feet away from the screen. Don't worry about the "Dynamic" contrast ratio. This HDTV is best in "standard" mode (more "life-like" than any HDTV I've seen). If you want an HDTV with the most true-color tones and a flexible menu for the average user, I highly recommend this television. If you don't believe me, go into any store and compare the true color tones of the Sharp Aquos to any of its competitors. That test is what finally sold us on this TV. What can I say that hasn't been said? This TV beat my picky expectations by far! If your one to notice over hyped colors, bad shadow detail, poor blacks, washed out colors, hyped motion "anti-blurring" sets, you'll love this TV.

This is my first HD TV but I have been looking to buy for 6 years. My wife bought me a Blu-ray player ( Oppo BDP-83 recommend ) so I made the leap...so glad I did.

I am very picky about picture quality. I shoot large format photographs, I tend to notice digital artifacts, bad skin tone, bad contrast, pixilation etc. This TV has no artificial look to it. It seems to spit out what it gets with out adding anything. Off air 1080i broadcasts are stunning. Blu-Ray is outstanding. It may not be the best TV for converting from SD, but even converting from the lowest of resolution it still show no artificial digital artifacts. Meaning, no hyped colors, no rainbow effects, off color shadows etc.

The color depth is also stunning. May be a bit strong on reds and greens but seems to be pleasing to the eye. As advertised the black levels and detail are where it's all at. Making colors rich, deep, accurate and shadow detail solid. Blacks are inky black. For Plasma is does have a decent anti reflective coating. Reminds me of anti reflective coating on video lenses. Day time viewing is not a problem at all. TV speaker is better than the average TV speaker. I use 5.1 surround system for Blu-ray and HD TV but, for average TV viewing it's decent.

LCD and LED sets are using fast motion reproduction ie...120hz, 240hz to help stop motion blur. To me this makes 24fps film look like video. 24fps is supposed to show motion blur at certain speeds, and trying to make everything look sharp makes the picture look unnatural. This set show no signs of this artificial "fix". Blu-ray, broadcast 1080i shows (sports) look amazing. Smooth, fluid...the way they were meant to be seen. My first viewing of NFL HD was like anything I had ever seen.

I'm glad I waited for a TV like this. It's one of those things you know you'll want to keep for as long as possible because it performs so well.
